Sunset Riders is an early 90s side-scrolling run and gun video game developed and published by Konami for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). The game was released in Japan on December 10, 1992, North America on January 1993, and Europe in July 1993. It is a western themed shooter where players take control of four bounty hunters as they travel across the Wild West to collect bounties on criminals.

The objective of Sunset Riders is to complete levels while shooting enemies and collecting bonuses. Players choose from four characters: Steve, Billy, Bob, and Cormano. Each character has their own strengths such as speed or strength that makes them better suited for certain levels. Players can use their weapons to shoot enemies or throw dynamite at them for extra damage. The game also features power-ups that increase the player’s firepower or grant them temporary invincibility.

The levels in Sunset Riders are set in various locations such as deserts and towns with different enemies appearing throughout each level. In addition to standard enemies, there are boss battles at the end of each level which require more strategy to defeat than regular enemies do. There are also bonus rounds between levels where players can earn extra points by shooting targets quickly.

In addition to its single-player mode, Sunset Riders also offers a two-player cooperative mode where two players can work together to complete levels faster and rack up more points by killing enemies quicker. This mode requires both players to act strategically and cooperate with one another in order to succeed.

Sunset Riders has been praised for its colorful visuals, catchy soundtrack, and variety of gameplay modes that make it appealing to a wide range of gamers. Its western theme also gives it a unique flavor compared to other shooters of the time period which made it stand out from the crowd even further. The game was well received upon release with critics praising its smooth controls, challenging difficulty curve, and overall fun factor that made it enjoyable for long periods of time without becoming too repetitive or dull over time.
