Pilotwings is a flight simulator video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It was released in Japan on December 21, 1990 and in North America on August 27, 1991. The game is set in an alternate version of Earth where players take control of a pilot as they attempt to complete various aerial tasks. The game consists of six missions, each with its own goals. Players must complete all six missions to win the game.

Players take control of one of three different aircraft - a hang glider, a rocketbelt, or a gyrocopter - and attempt to complete various objectives while exploring the fictional island setting of Little States. The objective of each mission varies; some are simple races against time while others require players to collect objects or shoot targets. As players progress through the missions, they will unlock new aircraft and earn money which can be used to purchase upgrades for their aircraft.

The graphics in Pilotwings are detailed and colorful; the island setting is full of varied terrain which offers plenty of room for exploration. There are also several minigames included in the game which can be accessed from the main menu, such as target shooting and hot air balloon racing. The sound design is good with appropriate music playing during each mission and realistic sound effects accompanying each action taken by the player.

Pilotwings was well received upon release; it was praised for its detailed graphics, varied gameplay, and overall challenge level. It has since become a classic SNES title and is considered one of the best flight simulators ever made. Its legacy lives on today with numerous ports and remakes appearing on modern consoles such as Wii U and Nintendo Switch, allowing players old and new to experience this classic title once more.
