Taboo: The Sixth Sense is an interactive horror-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1989.

The game was released in North America, Europe, and Japan.

Taboo: The Sixth Sense is a point-and-click adventure game that puts players in the shoes of a young girl named Meg who has the special ability to see supernatural beings.

The player must use her sixth sense to explore different environments and interact with various characters in order to uncover the truth behind mysterious events taking place in her hometown of Salem.

The game has a unique graphical style that combines traditional pixel art with 3D visuals.

The backgrounds are detailed and atmospheric, giving players a sense of dread as they explore each location.

There is no combat or puzzles included but instead there is an emphasis on exploration and discovery.

As the player progresses through the game they will be required to make choices which will affect their progress and ultimately determine their fate.

The story begins when Meg's parents receive an invitation from her estranged uncle, Dr.

Laban Blackwood, asking them to visit his mansion in Salem.

Upon arriving at the mansion, they find out that he has mysteriously vanished leaving behind only a strange machine called “The Taboo” which appears to be able to detect supernatural activity nearby.

With the help of her friend George, Meg sets out to explore the mansion and discover what happened to her uncle while also trying to uncover the secrets of this mysterious machine known as “The Taboo”.

Along the way she will have to contend with ghosts, demons, vampires and other supernatural creatures as well as try to solve puzzles related to these creatures' existence and behavior.

As players progress further into the game they will gradually learn more about Dr Laban Blackwood's past and his involvement with occult practices such as necromancy, astral projection and alchemy as well as uncovering secrets related to ancient artifacts found throughout Salem.

Taboo: The Sixth Sense was praised for its atmosphere and storytelling when it was first released but it has since become somewhat overlooked due its age compared with modern horror games such as Resident Evil or Silent Hill series.

However, despite its age Taboo: The Sixth Sense remains an interesting experience that fans of classic horror adventures should definitely check out if they haven't already done so
