Mario Bros. is one of the most iconic video games of all time. Developed and published by Nintendo in 1983, it was released alongside the company’s first home console, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The game was an instant success, selling over 10 million copies worldwide and becoming one of the best-selling video games of all time.

In Mario Bros., players take control of Mario or Luigi as they attempt to clear levels filled with enemies. The goal is to collect coins while avoiding being “bopped” by enemies such as Shellcreepers, Sidesteppers, Fighter Flies, Slipice and more. To help them navigate these levels, players can use power-ups such as the Super Mushroom or Fire Flower to gain extra health or unleash powerful attacks on their foes. Additionally, certain blocks can be hit from below to reveal coins or items that will help the player progress through a level.

The game also features a unique two-player mode where each player takes control of either Mario or Luigi and must work together to defeat all enemies on a level before proceeding to the next one. This adds an extra layer of strategy and cooperation between players which makes for a unique experience every time you play it.

The success of Mario Bros. spawned numerous sequels over the years including Super Mario Bros., Super Mario World, New Super Mario Bros., and many more. These later titles added new features such as different power-ups and enemies while retaining much of what made Mario Bros. so great in the first place – tight controls, simple but fun gameplay, and memorable characters like Bowser and Princess Peach that would become staples in future entries in the series. Even after 38 years since its initial release, Mario Bros. remains popular amongst gamers today due to its timeless appeal and classic style of gameplay that still holds up today.

Overall, Mario Bros. is an important milestone in gaming history due to its influence on not only subsequent entries in the series but also other platformers such as Sonic The Hedgehog and Rayman Legends which drew inspiration from this classic title when creating their own games many years later. It’s no wonder why this title has stood the test of time; it’s accessible for everyone yet still offers enough challenge for seasoned veterans who want a good challenge too!
