Hatris is a classic puzzle video game originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1990. Developed by Bullet-Proof Software, Hatris was one of the first falling block games to hit the NES console. The objective of the game is to arrange differently shaped hats on top of each other in order to clear them from the playing field. Players must use strategy and quick thinking to create lines of three or more matching hats in order to make them disappear and earn points.

The game starts with a set number of hats randomly placed at the top of the screen, which then slowly fall towards the bottom. The player can move these hats left and right, rotate them, and stack them on top of each other. Once a line of three or more matching hats is created, they will disappear from the playing field and new hats will take their place. If two lines are made simultaneously, this will result in a “double” bonus, earning additional points for the player.

In addition to standard levels featuring different types of hats, there are also special levels that feature unique challenges such as fighting off giant cats that try to eat your hats or avoiding bombs that can destroy your hat collection unless properly defused. As players progress through each level they are awarded with bonus items such as extra lives or more time before new hats start appearing onscreen.

Hatris features two modes: Single Player Mode and Two Player Mode (which requires an additional NES controller). In Single Player Mode players compete against an AI opponent while trying to score as many points as possible within a certain amount of time; however if both players reach zero at any point during play then it’s Game Over! In Two Player Mode up to four people can play together cooperatively or competitively depending upon how they choose to play; additionally players can also customize their own hat designs for even more variety and fun!

Overall Hatris is an addictive puzzle game that still holds up today thanks to its simple yet challenging gameplay mechanics combined with colorful graphics and catchy music. Whether you prefer single player action or multiplayer fun Hatris offers something for everyone!
