Players take control of the Stellar-Fire, a high-tech fighter craft, as they battle to save the universe from an alien invasion.

The game features two modes of play: Story Mode and Arcade Mode. In Story Mode, players must navigate through 15 stages, each with their own objectives and enemies. The player's goal is to ultimately defeat the alien menace, but to do so they must use their wits to complete each stage. This mode features multiple paths that can be taken depending on the player's choices, allowing for replayability and exploration of different paths throughout the story.

In Arcade Mode, players take on waves of enemies while trying to survive as long as possible. The goal is to score as many points as possible before being destroyed by enemy fire or running out of fuel. Points are earned by destroying enemies and collecting power-ups which can increase speed, weapon strength, and more.

Graphically speaking, Stellar-Fire has colorful visuals supported by digitized sound effects and music tracks composed by Yuzo Koshiro. The game also supports two different resolutions: Low resolution allows for faster performance while High Resolution allows for detailed graphics at the cost of some slowdown during intense action scenes. Overall, Stellar-Fire is an enjoyable sci-fi shooter with a unique story mode that offers plenty of replay value due its multiple pathways and difficulty levels. With its colorful visuals and catchy soundtrack composed by one of gaming’s most celebrated composers, this Sega CD title is sure to please any fan of arcade shooters or sci-fi adventures alike!
