Star Wars: Rebel Assault is an action-packed, rail shooter video game developed and published by LucasArts for the Sega CD and Mega-CD consoles. The game was released in 1993, making it one of the earliest Star Wars titles on home consoles.

The story follows a rookie Rebel pilot, who is tasked with completing various missions against the Galactic Empire. The player must shoot incoming enemy ships, navigate treacherous terrain and complete objectives in order to progress through the game. The game also features several cutscenes throughout which help to advance the storyline.

The gameplay consists of a series of linear levels taking place from a first person perspective in which the player must shoot enemy targets while avoiding obstacles. In some levels, players can switch between different craft such as X-Wings and Y-Wings, each with their own unique weapons and abilities. Additionally, some levels feature small puzzles that must be solved in order to progress further into the game.

The graphics are quite impressive for its time, featuring detailed environments and ship designs that remain faithful to the Star Wars universe. The soundtrack also does an excellent job of setting the tone for each mission, often featuring classic themes from John Williams' iconic score for the films.

Overall, Star Wars: Rebel Assault is an enjoyable experience that still remains fun even after all these years. It's a great way to relive your favourite moments from the original trilogy while engaging in intense space dogfights and thrilling shootouts with Imperial forces.
