Wonder Boy in Monster World is a side-scrolling action-adventure game developed by Westone Bit Entertainment and published by Sega for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive console. The game was released in Japan in 1991, Europe in 1992, and North America in 1993.

The player takes control of the protagonist, a young boy named Shion. He is sent on a mission by his King to save the world from evil monsters that have taken over. The player must navigate through various levels while fighting various enemies and bosses. Along the way, Shion can purchase upgrades such as weapons, armor, and items to help him progress.

The game consists of four main areas: Fire Land, Ice Land, Wind Land and Miracle Land. In each area there are several stages that need to be completed before progressing to the next area. Each stage contains its own unique enemies and obstacles that must be overcome before reaching the end of the level. Throughout each stage, Shion can find hidden items or power-ups which can help him progress further into the game.

In addition to battling enemies, Shion can also interact with NPCs who will provide hints or tasks for him to complete throughout his journey. Some of these tasks involve gathering items which may be required during battle or unlocking new abilities which will make it easier for Shion to traverse certain areas of the game world.

As with most action-adventure games at this time period, Wonder Boy in Monster World features an RPG-like leveling system where Shion earns experience points (EXP) when defeating enemies which will increase his stats such as attack power and health points (HP). As his HP increases he will become stronger and able to take on more difficult monsters later on in the game.

Overall Wonder Boy in Monster World is an enjoyable classic Sega Genesis/Mega Drive action-adventure title that has aged well over time due to its unique art style and engaging gameplay mechanics which still remain entertaining today even after all these years since it was first released back in 1991
