Toxic Crusaders is a side-scrolling beat 'em up video game released for the Sega Genesis and Mega Drive systems in 1991. It was developed and published by Toho, who also produced the popular anime series of the same name. The game follows the story of four mutated creatures, known as the Toxic Crusaders, as they fight against an evil alien named Dr Killemoff. The Toxic Crusaders must battle their way through eight levels of action-packed adventure, each with its own unique enemies, hazards and bosses.

The game starts with a brief introduction to the characters and their mission; to rid Earth of Dr Killemoff and his minions. Players assume control of one of four characters: Toxie (the leader), Major Disaster (the strongman), Nozone (the flyer) or Junkyard (the technician). Each character has unique abilities that can be used to defeat enemies and progress through levels. For example, Toxie can fire toxic slime at enemies while Major Disaster can punch them out with his superhuman strength.

The action takes place across eight levels - from a polluted cityscape to a toxic waste dump - each filled with hazardous obstacles such as exploding barrels and toxic sludge rivers. As players progress through the game they will encounter various types of enemies ranging from mutated rats to robotic soldiers sent by Dr Killemoff himself. Players can attack these enemies using either physical attacks or special weapons found throughout the levels such as energy guns or acid blasters.

At certain points in each level players will also face off against powerful boss characters who must be defeated before progressing further into the game. These bosses range from giant robots to mutant monsters; each with their own unique set of attacks which must be countered in order to win. After defeating a boss character, players will receive bonus points which can be used to purchase power-ups such as extra lives or health refills from shops scattered throughout the levels.

Overall, Toxic Crusaders is an enjoyable beat ‘em up adventure offering plenty of action-packed gameplay for fans of classic side-scrollers. With its colourful graphics, memorable characters and challenging levels, it's sure to keep players entertained for hours on end!
