Second Samurai is a side-scrolling action platformer game by Sega for its 16-bit Sega Genesis/Mega Drive system, first published in 1993. It follows the story of Manta, a brave warrior with mysterious magical powers who must rescue his kidnapped village and bring peace to the land. The player must battle enemies on their journey up to the top of a mountain temple where Manta's quest will finally be completed.

Players navigate Manta through various stages featuring detailed environments - forests, swamplands, haunted castles and more - while fighting off hordes of enemies with a kinetic combination of martial arts moves and melee weapons such as swords, spears and shurikens. Along the way, they must traverse treacherous terrain while avoiding environmental hazards like spiked floors or acid pools. Boss encounters are also featured at the end of levels where a powerful enemy awaits to test Manta’s strength and courage before progressing further.
