Wonder Boy is a classic Sega game released in 1989 for the Game Gear handheld console. It is an action/adventure platformer game, where the player takes on the role of Tom-Tom, a young boy who must rescue his beloved Tanya from the clutches of the evil King. The game is set in Monster Land, a fantasy world populated by monsters and other creatures.

The gameplay consists of navigating through various levels, defeating enemies, and collecting items to progress through the game. Tom-Tom has several abilities at his disposal; he can run, jump, slide down slopes, climb ladders and ropes, swim underwater, and shoot projectiles at enemies. He can also pick up various items such as rocks and boomerangs that he can use to attack enemies or break certain blocks in order to access new areas. As he progresses through each level, Tom-Tom will encounter a variety of different enemies such as bats, crabs, moles and even dragons. These enemies can be defeated with projectiles or by jumping on them.

Throughout the game there are also hidden items which can be found by breaking blocks or exploring secret passages. These items include coins which can be used to buy extra lives or power ups such as shields and wings which allow Tom-Tom to fly over obstacles or take damage without dying. In addition to these power ups there are also food items which restore health when eaten.

Wonder Boy features nine levels in total; seven main levels and two bonus stages which contain more powerful enemies and more difficult puzzles than those found in the main levels. The goal of each level is to reach the end before time runs out while avoiding obstacles and defeating any enemies encountered along the way. Defeating bosses at the end of each level will earn Tom-Tom special items such as keys which open doors leading him further into Monster Land until finally reaching King's castle where Tanya is held captive. Upon rescuing her from her captor's grasp Wonder Boy must face off against him for one final showdown before victory is achieved!
