Cool Spot is a side-scrolling platform game developed by Virgin Games and released for the Sega Game Gear in 1993. The player takes control of Cool Spot, a red, 7-up themed mascot from the 1980s. The goal of the game is to collect all seven spots on each level before moving on to the next one. The levels are divided into two types: platforming levels and bonus levels.

In the platforming levels, Cool Spot must traverse through various obstacles and enemies while collecting seven spots in order to progress to the next level. These include jumping over gaps, climbing ladders, smashing blocks with his head and avoiding enemies such as crabs, seagulls and bats. Each level also contains power-ups which can help Cool Spot reach areas he would otherwise be unable to access or give him extra protection against enemies. As well as these items, there are also bonus items which can be collected for extra points or extra lives.

The bonus levels involve shooting at targets with bubbles while avoiding enemies such as sharks and octopi. These bonus rounds provide an opportunity for players to gain extra points and lives if they successfully hit their targets.

The game features four worlds - Beach World, Forest World, Cave World and Sky World - each containing three stages plus a bonus stage at the end of each world. There is also a boss fight at the end of each world which must be completed before progressing further in the game.

In addition to its single-player mode, Cool Spot also features a two-player mode where players compete against each other to see who can collect more spots in a certain time limit or score more points in a set number of rounds. This mode allows friends or family members to play together for added fun!

Overall, Cool Spot is an enjoyable classic platformer that provides plenty of challenge for gamers looking for something new on their Sega Game Gear console! Despite its age it still holds up well today thanks to its simple yet addictive gameplay mechanics and vibrant visuals that make it difficult not to smile when playing this awesome title!
