Trog is an arcade-style action game for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), released in 1990. Developed by Rare Ltd. and published by Milton Bradley Company, it was one of the first games to feature simultaneous multiplayer gameplay. The game has a prehistoric theme and players take control of a caveman character who must collect food, avoid hazards, and compete against computer-controlled opponents.

The game takes place in a 2D side-scrolling environment with several levels. In each level, the player must collect pieces of fruit to score points while avoiding various traps and enemies such as giant spiders, lava pools, and rolling rocks. Additionally, several power ups are available that can be used to increase speed or temporarily become invincible. The objective is to reach the end of each level before the timer runs out or before the other players do so. If successful, the player advances to the next level.

Trog provides both single-player and multiplayer modes of play; up to three additional players can join in on the fun via a Game Link Cable connection for some four-player competition. In addition to this competitive mode, there is also a cooperative two-player mode where both players work together to complete levels by collecting more fruit than their opponents. Furthermore, players can choose between either Easy or Hard difficulty settings for added challenge.

One of Trog’s most unique features is its “caveman speak” dialogues which occur at various points during gameplay; these humorous conversations provide insight into what’s happening within each stage as well as lighten up any tense moments that may arise from competing against others or overcoming difficult obstacles. Also included are bonus rounds after every few levels where players can earn extra lives or continue playing if they run out of time during regular play; these rounds are often challenging but offer great rewards for those who manage to succeed in them!

Overall, Trog is an enjoyable and highly replayable experience for all ages due to its simple yet addictive gameplay mechanics coupled with its charming prehistoric theme and characters. While it may not have been as popular as some other NES titles from its era, it still offers hours of fun for anyone looking for an entertaining way to pass the time with friends or family members alike!
