Silent Assault is a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) game developed by Konami and released in 1988. It is a top-down shooter with some stealth elements, as the player must sneak around enemies and avoid detection. The goal of the game is to make it through each level without being detected or killed by enemy soldiers.

The player controls an unnamed soldier armed with a machine gun, grenades, and an unlimited supply of ammo. The levels are filled with enemy soldiers, tanks and helicopters that can attack the player from all directions. The player must use their machine gun to shoot down these enemies while avoiding detection from them. If an enemy spots the player they will fire at them, so the player must stay out of sight or use cover to protect themselves. As well as shooting enemies, the player can also use grenades to clear out large groups of enemies or take out tanks and helicopters that cannot be reached by gunfire.

Each level has a different objective which must be completed before progressing to the next one. These objectives vary from rescuing hostages, stopping enemy vehicles or destroying important targets such as bridges and buildings. To complete these objectives successfully, the player must plan their route carefully and use stealth tactics to get past any guards that may be present. As well as this, there are power ups scattered throughout each level which can give the player extra health or ammunition when picked up.

Overall Silent Assault is an exciting action game that requires players to think strategically in order to complete each level without being detected or killed by enemies. It also provides a good challenge for players who like top-down shooters but want something more than just shooting down everything in sight – they have to think about how they approach each situation and plan their route accordingly if they want to succeed!
