Dragon Buster is an action-adventure game developed and published by Namco for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1984. It was one of the first games to be released on the NES and was praised for its unique gameplay elements, challenging levels, and engaging story.

The player takes control of a young knight named Lancelot who must save the kingdom from an evil dragon known as Draknos. The game consists of eight stages, each with its own unique enemies and obstacles. In order to progress through the game, Lancelot must collect coins, keys, and other items while fighting enemies using his sword or magic spells. He also needs to find hidden items in order to open doors that lead to new areas.

At the start of each stage, Lancelot has three lives with which he can take damage from enemies or hazardous objects such as spikes and fireballs. If he loses all three lives before reaching the end of a stage, he will be sent back to the beginning of that stage. Players are also able to purchase additional lives at certain points throughout the game.

The objective of Dragon Buster is to collect all four pieces of armor scattered throughout the stages before facing off against Draknos in a final battle at the end of Stage 8. Collecting all four pieces gives Lancelot access to a powerful spell that can be used against Draknos during this final battle; however, if he fails to defeat Draknos with this spell then he will have no choice but to fight him without it.

Dragon Buster has been praised for its unique blend of action-adventure gaming elements and its challenging level design. Its graphics were praised for their high level of detail considering it was released early on in the NES’s lifespan; however, some critics felt that they lacked variety when compared to later NES titles like Super Mario Bros.. Despite this criticism, Dragon Buster remains a classic title among retro gamers due its engaging gameplay and interesting story.
