Ultima – Runes of Virtue II is a role-playing game released for the Nintendo Game Boy in 1995. Developed by Origin Systems and published by Electronic Arts, it was the sequel to the 1992 Ultima: Runes of Virtue which was released on the NES. This game follows the story of Lord British’s Avatar as he embarks on a quest to retrieve eight magical runes that have been scattered across the world by an evil wizard named Mondain. The player must travel through various lands, dungeons, and towns in order to find all eight runes before Mondain can use them to unleash chaos upon the world.

The gameplay of Ultima – Runes of Virtue II is similar to its predecessor. Players control the Avatar as they explore various locations within Britannia and interact with NPCs (non-player characters). As they progress through their journey, players will encounter enemies which must be defeated in turn-based combat using a variety of weapons and spells. Defeating enemies yields experience points which can be used to level up your character and increase their stats. Money can also be acquired from defeated enemies or from completing quests which can then be used to purchase new equipment or items from stores located in towns throughout Britannia.

Players are also able to participate in side quests which often yield additional rewards such as money or items. These side quests range from rescuing people from dungeons, collecting ingredients for potions, finding lost items, and more. Completing these tasks will help you gain access to new areas or unlock special abilities that will aid you in your quest for the eight runes.

As with other Ultima games, Ultima – Runes of Virtue II features an open-ended storyline where players are free to explore wherever they wish without any restrictions or linear plot progression. This allows players to take their time exploring Britannia and discover secrets hidden throughout its vast landscape. The game also includes a password system which allows players to continue their adventure at any time without having to start over again from scratch should they lose their progress due to an unexpected interruption or power failure.

Ultima – Runes of Virtue II is considered one of the best RPGs available for the Game Boy platform due its engaging storyline, varied gameplay mechanics, and expansive world map which offers hours upon hours worth of exploration and adventure opportunities for players willing to seek them out. Its colorful graphics combined with its classic soundtrack make this title stand out amongst other RPGs available for this generation of gaming consoles; making it an essential addition for any fan of role-playing games looking for something unique yet nostalgic at the same time
