Mortal Kombat 4 is an action-packed fighting game released for the Nintendo Game Boy Color in 1999. Developed by Midway Games, it is the fourth installment in the Mortal Kombat series and the first one to be released for a handheld console. It features many of the characters from previous games, such as Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Sonya Blade. The game also introduces new characters like Quan Chi and Shinnok.

The story of Mortal Kombat 4 follows a similar plot to its predecessors: An evil sorcerer named Shinnok has escaped his imprisonment in the Netherealm and is seeking revenge against those who imprisoned him. In order to do this, he must gain control of the six magical artifacts known as “Kamidogu”. To prevent Shinnok from succeeding in his quest, various warriors from Earthrealm have been chosen to compete in a tournament known as “Mortal Kombat” in order to protect their world from destruction.

Gameplay wise, Mortal Kombat 4 plays similarly to its predecessors but with some changes made specifically for the Game Boy Color version. The controls are simplified so that they can be used effectively on a smaller controller. There are three different types of attacks which can be used: punches, kicks and special moves. Each character has their own unique set of moves which can be used during battle. Players can also perform combos which involve stringing together multiple attacks into one powerful move.

The graphics of Mortal Kombat 4 are quite impressive for a Game Boy Color game. The characters have detailed sprites which animate smoothly during combat sequences and there are plenty of backgrounds and special effects present throughout each fight scene. The music is also well done and fits perfectly with the game’s theme and atmosphere.

Overall, Mortal Kombat 4 is an enjoyable experience on the Game Boy Color despite its limitations compared to other versions of the game available at the time. It features all of your favorite characters from previous games along with some new ones added specifically for this version. The graphics are surprisingly good for a handheld system and playing against an AI or human opponent still provides plenty of challenge today even though it was released over 20 years ago!
