The Croc series of video games for the Nintendo Game Boy Color were met with critical acclaim and commercial success in the late 1990s. Developed by Argonaut Games, the three-part series featured an anthropomorphic crocodile named Croc, who was on a mission to save his fellow Gobbos from the evil Baron Dante. The platforming gameplay featured multiple levels, enemies, power-ups, and puzzles that made it an enjoyable experience for gamers of all ages.

The first game in the series, Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, was released in 1997. The game follows Croc as he sets out to rescue his Gobbo friends from Baron Dante’s clutches. As he travels across various lands, he must collect keys and other items to open up new areas and progress through the game. Along the way, he encounters a variety of enemies such as bats and snakes that must be avoided or defeated with various weapons like eggs or stones. In addition to these foes, there are also various puzzles and obstacles that require problem solving skills in order to progress.

Croc 2 followed in 1999 and continued with its predecessor’s premise of rescuing Gobbos while introducing new features such as a hub world where players can purchase items from shops or upgrade their character’s abilities. Additionally, new enemies were introduced such as robots and monsters that must be fought off using different weapons found throughout the levels. There is also a greater emphasis on exploration with secret passages scattered throughout each level which can lead to bonus items or areas not accessible otherwise.

The final installment in the series was released in 2000 under the title Croc 3: Animal Island Adventure. This time around, Croc is sent on a mission by his parents who have been captured by King Rufus - ruler of Animal Island - after they tried to protect his home from destruction. The gameplay remains largely unchanged but introduces some new elements such as two player multiplayer mode where players can work together to complete levels or compete against one another for score points; as well as larger worlds with multiple paths that lead to different destinations depending on which route is taken by players.

The Croc series has remained popular over two decades since its initial release due its engaging platforming gameplay mechanics and colorful visuals that remain timeless even today; making it perfect for gamers both young and old alike looking for a classic adventure game experience on their Game Boy Color console. With three installments full of content ranging from exciting boss battles to tricky puzzles; it’s no wonder why this critically acclaimed trilogy continues to be enjoyed even now by fans around the world who grew up playing these games during their childhood years
