Klax is a puzzle game developed by Atari Games and released for the Sega Game Gear in 1992. The game was created by Dave Akers and Ed Logg, who also worked on other classic arcade titles such as Asteroids and Centipede.

The goal of Klax is to match colored blocks as they move down a conveyor belt into “klaxes” at the bottom of the screen. Players must align three or more blocks of the same color into horizontal, vertical, or diagonal rows in order to score points and clear the board. As players progress through each stage, more colors are added to the mix, making it increasingly difficult to create klaxes.

Players can also increase their score by creating “combos” which occur when multiple klaxes are made with one move. Combos are scored higher than regular klaxes and can help players reach higher levels faster. If a player fails to make any klaxes before the conveyor belt fills up with blocks, they will receive a penalty which will result in them losing a life.

Klax features five different game modes: Arcade, Strategy, Puzzle, Duel and Practice mode. Each mode has its own unique set of rules and challenges for players to master. In addition to these five modes, there is also a two-player option available where players can compete against each other on the same board.

Klax is an addictive puzzle game that has been praised for its simple yet challenging gameplay mechanics as well as its colorful visuals and sound effects. The game has become an iconic title in the world of handheld gaming and remains popular amongst fans of classic video games today.
