California Games II for the Super Nintendo is a sports-themed video game developed by Epyx and published by U.S. Gold in 1993. It is a sequel to the original California Games, released for the Commodore 64 in 1988. The game features five events set in California: Surfing, Skateboarding, Roller Blading, Hang Gliding and Street Luge.

The game starts with an introduction featuring an animated surfer on a wave against a backdrop of palm trees, a beach, and the Golden Gate Bridge. After this introduction, players can choose from five different events: Surfing, Skateboarding, Roller Blading, Hang Gliding and Street Luge.

Surfing has players riding waves while performing tricks such as cutbacks and aerials. Points are awarded based on how well they perform their tricks as well as how long they ride each wave. Skateboarding has players skateboarding around a half-pipe while performing stunts such as Ollies and Kickflips. Points are awarded based on how well they perform their tricks as well as how long they stay on the half-pipe without falling off or crashing into obstacles.

Roller Blading has players roller blading around a park while performing stunts such as Grinds and Slides. Points are awarded based on how well they perform their tricks as well as how long they stay on the course without falling off or crashing into obstacles. Hang Gliding has players hang gliding over various terrains while attempting to collect stars placed throughout the level. Points are awarded based on how many stars they collect during their flight.

Finally, Street Luge has players racing down a hill while avoiding obstacles such as trees and other racers. Points are awarded based on how quickly they finish each race as well as any tricks that they may perform during their run down the hillside. After completing all five events, players receive an overall score which determines whether or not they have won the game’s championship trophy (a bronze surfboard).

California Games II is an entertaining sports-themed video game that offers hours of fun for all ages thanks to its colorful graphics and easy-to-learn controls. With its wide variety of events set in California’s iconic locations, it’s sure to entertain both dedicated gamers and casual fans alike!
