The Goonies, The Nintendo NES game was released in 1987 and is based on the popular 1985 movie of the same name. It was developed by Konami and published by Ultra Games. The game follows the plot of the movie and allows players to take control of Mikey Walsh, Mouth Devereaux, Data Wang, Chunk Cohen and Andy Carmichael as they explore a mysterious cavern looking for pirate treasure.

At the start of the game, players are presented with a map of an underground cave system. This map serves as a guide for players to navigate through the various sections of the cave. As players move through each section, they encounter obstacles that must be overcome in order to progress further. These obstacles include spiked floors, moving platforms and enemies that attempt to stop them from reaching their goal. Players can collect power-ups such as bombs and extra lives along their journey.

The game also features mini-games that allow players to earn additional points or bonuses when completed successfully. These mini-games include jumping over flaming pits or avoiding falling rocks while riding a tricycle across a bridge. Additionally, there are secret areas throughout the cave that can only be accessed by using special items found in chests scattered throughout the levels.

The main objective of The Goonies is for players to reach One-Eyed Willy’s hidden pirate ship at the end of the cave system before time runs out. Along their journey, they must battle enemies such as slobbering dogs and bats while collecting special items needed to open locked doors blocking their path forward. If successful, they will receive all sorts of treasures including coins, gems and even One-Eyed Willy’s legendary pirate ship!

The Goonies was one of Konami’s first titles released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) console and has become an iconic title amongst gamers who grew up playing it during its heyday in 1987/1988. Its classic side-scrolling platformer gameplay combined with its vibrant graphics make it an enjoyable experience even today!
