Excitebike is a classic racing video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The game was released in Japan on November 30, 1984, and in North America on October 18, 1985. It was one of the earliest games to feature dirt bike racing.

The objective of Excitebike is to race against other computer-controlled opponents over a series of courses that become increasingly difficult as the player progresses. The player can choose from three different courses: an easy track, a medium track and a hard track. Each course has its own unique obstacles and design. For example, the easy track contains mostly straightaways with some jumps while the hard track includes more complex jumps and curves. Players must also watch their speed as they can easily crash if they go too fast.

The controls for Excitebike are simple yet effective; players use the directional pad to move their bike left or right, accelerate or brake using the A and B buttons respectively, and jump by pressing both buttons at once. Additionally, players can use turbo boost by pressing Select while racing. Turbo boost gives players a short burst of speed but it can quickly deplete their energy meter if used too often or for too long.

Players have three lives at the start of each race which are lost when they crash into an obstacle or fall off their bike. If all lives are lost then it’s game over! However, there is an option to continue playing after losing all lives by entering a special code at the title screen before starting a new game. This code will give players five extra lives so they can continue playing without having to start over from scratch.

Excitebike features simple yet addictive gameplay that still stands up today despite its age. Its colorful visuals, catchy music and realistic sound effects provide an immersive experience that will keep you coming back for more!
