Commando is a 1985 run and gun action video game developed and published by Capcom. It was originally released in arcades, but was later ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1988. The game plays from an overhead perspective, with the player controlling a lone commando named Super Joe. The objective of the game is to fight through enemy forces and reach the end of each stage.

The game starts with Super Joe parachuting into hostile territory. As he progresses, he must shoot his way through enemy troops, tanks, and helicopters while avoiding their fire. Along the way, players can pick up weapons such as machine guns and bazookas to aid them in their mission. Power-ups can also be found which increase Super Joe’s health or give him extra lives.

The controls for Commando are simple: the D-pad moves Super Joe around the screen while the A button fires his weapon. The B button allows him to throw grenades as well as jump over obstacles or enemies that are too close to shoot at. In addition, Super Joe can take cover behind trees or rocks to avoid enemy fire. The game also features destructible terrain which adds an extra layer of strategy as players must plan their route carefully in order to stay out of harm’s way.

The graphics for Commando are simple yet effective; they convey a sense of tension and urgency that is essential for a good run-and-gun shooter like this one. The soundtrack is also quite good; it features some upbeat tunes that add to the intensity of the experience. Overall, Commando is a classic NES title that still holds up today thanks to its tight controls and intense action sequences. If you’re looking for an old school shooter with plenty of replay value, then Commando should definitely be on your list!
